Groovy hepcat jose flanigan was jivin' on 13 May 2004 15:46:48 -0700 in comp.os.msdos.programmer. no dpmi error for computer with 4 GB RAM?'s a cool scene! Dig it! >I have a 4 GB RAM machine that I am booting off a Windows 95 diskette. >When I try to run programs in this mode I get a 'no dpmi' error. I >didn't get this problem on my old machine where I only had 2 GB >memory. > >I have downloaded cwsdpmi, but then I get a "no channel" error. This is a programming newsgroup, but your question is not about programming. I'll answer this time, but please find a more appropriate place, the next time you have a question unrelated to programming. The answer is simple. You haven't loaded an extended memory manager such as HIMEM.SYS. Load that and you should be able to access DPMI resources. DPMI servers (including those built into DOS extenders that come with many programs) typically build their resources on top of XMS (Extended Memory System) or EMS (Expanded Memory System), so you need drivers for these loaded. -- Dig the even newer still, yet more improved, sig! http://alphalink.com.au/~phaywood/ "Ain't I'm a dog?" - Ronny Self, Ain't I'm a Dog, written by G. Sherry & W. Walker. I know it's not "technically correct" English; but since when was rock & roll "technically correct"?
