I make a very simple program called z.c with the contents of:

#include <stdio.h>

int main()
{
     int a, b, c;
     a = 5;
     b = 7;
     c = a + b;
     printf ("%d + %d = %d\n", a, b, c);
     return 0;
}

The compiler prints a myriad of errors:

samp.c:1: error: stray '\320' in program
samp.c:1: error: stray '\317' in program
samp.c:1: error: stray '\21' in program
samp.c:1: error: stray '\340' in program
samp.c:1: error: stray '\241' in program
samp.c:1: error: stray '\261' in program

I want to know what I did wrong becuase I'm sort of new to programming.
thanks.
