I'm quite sure that this was a false conclusion.  GPF's don't really depend
on the size, but rather on the actual *content* of your program.  I.e.
you just brushed an actual bug under the carpet instead of fixing it.

You should debug your program for real (as in: run it inside a
debugger), and try to reproduce the crash, to see where exactly it's
coming from.  Also check out the FAQ about how to intrepret crash
symptoms.
