What, exactly, is the relevance of DJGPP in this effort?  

In other words, I'm quite convinced you're looking for the answer in
the wrong place.  The GCC docs and/or GCC mailing lists would be more
on-target.

Why that?  Face it: application binary interfaces *are*
platform-dependent, by their very nature.  Pretending otherwise won't
help you solve any problem, I think.

BTW: Is there any particular reason you cannot seem to end any
sentence with a normal full-stop, but always have to !exclamate!?
