It is unusual. Let me explain why. I've been building a graphical
tool which is based on a legacy C++ library. Our tool is written in
Java. For various reasons, we are not rewriting the C++ library. The
Java tool creates C++ files to be linked with the legacy library and
other user-defined files. The user has a project directory and a
common directory they use. Compiling stuff from the project directory
no problem. But a situation may arise where files from both of the
user's directories need to be compiled.

So yes, it is different. I am hoping to avoid moving files over into
one directory and compiling from there.

There are other issues and files involved than just managing a C++
project. The file structure revolves around these realities.

thanks,
Geoff
