util-linux-2.11 has inside it a very portable getopt() function
for long options. I've successfully used it for compiling
nano-1.2.1. It's GPL, written by Frodo Looijaard, lsm says primary
site is at: http://huizen.dds.nl/~frodol (but I got it from
util-linux-2.11). If you need something non-GPL, say LGPL, you'll
have to look elsewhere... HTH
