Really?  Then it's very old.  You need to get a more
recent distribution.  Go to
http://www.delorie.com/djgpp/zip-picker.html
to download the latest distribution.

Please post the EXACT code you tried to compile. 
Meanwhile, please cut-and-paste (don't retype) the
following:

#include <iostream>
int main()
{
        std::cout << "Hello World!";
}


Compile it as follows (assuming you saved it as
"hello.cpp"):

gxx -W -Wall -pedantic -o hello.exe hello.cpp

If it doesn't compile, please report back with the
exact error message you received.  If it does compile,
the problem is probably with your program, not with
the distribution.
