What do you mean by "conflict"? Do you mean that you cannot see ls's output,
when you scroll backwards?

Do you have ls's colour-highlighting turned on? ls's colour-highlighting and
scrolling are probably incompatible, because ls uses special routines to do
the colour-highlighting.

Does the scrollbar work with ls, if you use a command like this?

    ls --color=never
