sigh... in my efforts to troubleshoot why cross compiled C executables
are working under DOS / WIN32 and why cross compiled C++ executables
are _not_ running under DOS / WIN32, i failed to realize that simply
invoking gcc -Wl,--verbose wasn't acceptable to the linker with
regards to main.

When I specify gcc -Wl, --verbose file.cpp -o file.exe the linker
undefined main error does not occur.
