One reason to compile a precise package list was to have the minimum
required information to automatically generating a minimalist dsm for
every distribution archive that lacks it.

At least to install pakke ;-), isn't it? In addition, in Windows NT
machines perhaps it would be wise to install LFN support before
installing and using pakke for installing other packages.
