   Why don't you create a new file every 5 minutes, (and
save and close the old one), with a little modified
filename?
   Or maybe: Try using fp=fopen("filename","a"); and save
the file every 5 minutes. (I never used fopen with "a", so
I don't know exactly how it works.)
