Perhaps they have some custom m4 to detect fork? Is there a m4/ directory in
the top directory of the Python sources? If so, try grepping in there for
fork, e.g.:

    grep m4/* fork

BTW I think you should keep the attribution, when you quote parts of messages
(i.e.: the "Eli Zaretskii" I've inserted above). Once the level of quotation
gets beyond two, it's difficult to remember who said what, unless you have the
attributions.
