you did not configure OE correctly. you need to specify a news server. 
comp.os.msdos.djgpp is the name of the group, not that of the server. ask 
your ISP to find out if they have a news server, and its name. or you 
might go ahead and try news.fast.net (i am assuming your ISP is 
fast.net).
