Hello.

I'm pleased to announce version 0.2.0 of zippo, a package manager for DJGPP.
This version of zippo has some major new features: with the help of wget
[under Windows] zippo can now download packages from the web using HTTP or
FTP. Users of zippo should upgrade to 0.2.0. The changelog is here:

With zippo you can:

* install packages,
* uninstall packages,
* upgrade packages (warning: still experimental, may cause damage / data loss)

using fairly simple command-lines, e.g.:

    zippo --verbose --install gmp40b.zip

to install GMP 4.0 binaries; or:

    zippo --verbose --upgrade 'binutils 2.11 (binaries)'

to upgrade to binutils 2.11 from an earlier version.

zippo can do its magic by using DSMs, which contain descriptions of a package.
zippo comes with DSMs for many DJGPP packages, although the list may not
contain all the latest DJGPP packages. The latest DJGPP packages have DSMs in
a package called djgpp-dsms, which can be found in the v2 directory of the
DJGPP archive on Simtel.NET as ds??????.zip, where the '?' symbols represent
the date. zippo can now check for the latest version djgpp-dsms using 'zippo
--syncdb'.

zippo is available from the DJGPP archive on Simtel.NET and its mirrors. You

These are the binary and source distributions respectively. If you just wish
to use zippo, download the binary distribution. Otherwise download the source

The zippo binary distribution comes with a program called dsmcheck, which can
be used to check the syntax of DSMs.
