I am interested in source code for blitting bitmaps to the screen in true
colour mode, that is to say setting the RGB values individually for each
pixel.

There is a lot of information available for 256 bit colour modes, but that
does not help me if I want to blit a 24 bit bitmap to the screen.

Any suggestions?
