I will try to run the tests on a Win2K machine if someone else doesn't get
to it first.

I did some tests and was able to reproduce this problem.  When I swapped
out the bash 2.04 distributed with the refresh for a bash 2.05 (which
has many enhancements and is built with the new 2.04 in development) the
problem disappeared.  Is it possible the original development of this
bat file was done with a different version of bash?
