Guys,

There is allot of testing to be done on Windwos 2000 and there is
still allot of issues to be resolved. There has been allot of progress
over the last 6 weeks. My personal opinion and gut feel is that it may
take another 2-3 months before a working version of DJGPP and
packages would be done. It will in all probabilityu not be the same
stability as the exisitng DJGPP 2.03 is under 9x as this has taken a
few years to get to this state with allot of hard work by allot of
people. (I have only started testing and helping out since I moved my
main PC to Win 2K from 98.

Charles, Andris, Eli & Mark when readind the info below please
remember some of the emails sent about the Win 2K issues and how
complex they are and how long it has taken to get to the stage we are
now at!!!

At this point in time if you would like to help out and you have
enough skill and knowledge to be able to re-build DJGPP CVS LIBC, GCC
2.9.5.3 and Bash 2.05 beta then please keep readin otherwise please
wait until a version of DJGPP is released that fully works (100% with
LFN, nul etc etc) on Windows 2000. DJGPP support for Windows 2000 is
not at a stage where it is advisable to use or try to use without
skills to re-build various DJGPP & GNU packages, unless you only need
something simple.

The issues that are left are starting to become very complex and it
starting to take allot of time to figure out what is going on. If you
feel like a challenge and would like to help solve some issues then go
and get the latest DJGPP CVS libc from
http://www.ludd.luth.se/~ams/djgpp/cvs/ and compile this on your Win98
box along with the GCC comiler.

At this point in time if you can recompile the packages and would only
like to test DJGPP on Windows 2000 then you to can be a big help in
testing as we need testers. To be able to help unfortunatly at this
point in time you will need a Win 9x box and a Win 2000 box or setup
dual boot on the one PC, but I think you will go nuts if you do use
duial boot as you will compile ion Win 98 then have to re-boot to test
on Win 2000.

If you still want to help out or would like to know what the current
status is with DJGPP then go and subscribe to the djgpp-workers list
at www.delorie.com. If you can complie LIBC, GCC etc then send me an
email and I will be able to send you info on how to get to the next
stage.

This will be a rocky road and you will crash and burn a few times, but
we will get over the finish line at some stage.

Regards,
Andrew
