  I have custom settings (under Control Panel => System => Performance
=> Virtual Memory) with a minimum swap file space of 320 Mb.
  Scandisk does not report any bad blocks.

  Sorry for the late response.  I use my parents' computer, and
sometimes it is a long time before I can get back to that particular
machine.
