I seriously doubt this is DJGPP's fault.  Have you considered something in
your comp is faulty?  bad HD, ram, etc...

I know about 3 months ago I was bitching at the folks here and it turned out
that bad ram was the culprit [as an aside I have an 80$ 2ft fan blowing into
my open comp case now... it cools the cpu and board by about 11c :-) ]
