Well, you could look at what MAME does (see www.mame.net).  I'm fairly
sure
it handles multiple keypresses, and it uses Allegro (the latest WIP
version,
though I'm not sure that makes a difference).
The relevant code would be in src/msdos/input.c (or something like
that).
