That's an internal number, the mode is created by RHIDE itself by manipulation
of VGA registers.

Perhaps this mode have exactly the same frequencies that 640x480 and the
monitor gets confused.

You are confused, RHIDE runs in text mode (16 colors), so you must use a text
mode.
