Then it means the problem is with save/restore call to BIOS. The low level flag
was created to workaround bogus BIOSes that failed to implement save/restore. When
low level flag is enabled I save all the VGA state by hand assuming the board is
100% VGA compatible.

Andris can help you to compile RHIDE, pass your doubts to Andris explaining what
exactly is the problem. He could also make available libgdbb.a, but then you
should use the same tools he is using.
If you compile RHIDE is quite easy to just force the low level stuff.
