We cannot even try to guess because you didn't give us enough
information.

When the program crashes under RHIDE, it prints lots of information,
below the SIGABRT thing you wuoted.  RHIDE adds line numbers and
source file names to that information.  Please post all that here, and
someone might have a clue for you.

In general, problems like that usually mean use of uninitialized
memory.  But that's a wild guess.
