Sorry, I don't follow exactly what you mean. I think you have two
copies of the same program running at the same time. One works but
the other malfunctions somehow.

This was to workaround a bug in NT, so if you are not running NT it is
probably not relevant (unless the same bug manifests itself in another
version of windows).
Can you post a small program that demonstrates the problem you have?
Please say what it does and what you think it should do. Also, please
say which version of windows you use.
