No, you only need one.  The newsgroup is not filtered, but you will
get spam from it.  The mailing list has nearly all the spam filtered
out of it, along with offensive posts (and there have been some
doozies in the past).

Its offensive and unneeded.  I *know* there are children on this list,
and others easily offended, and I will do what I can to keep the tone
appropriate for them.  For the most part, it works very well.  We have
a very high signal-to-noise ratio, and everyone is friendly and
welcome.

And it's easy to avoid offensive words, too.
