Thanks for the offer, but it turns out my company does have 
MSC 5.10 on our network.  Now I have to install STILL MORE
Gatesware on my computer.  I feel so... dirty.

Actually, yes, but my question here was more related to C syntax.
The folks on clc (which I've been following slavishly for five years)
gave me the same bad news about incompatible object files (it's
the 16-bit vs. 32-bit thing).
