These mean, respectively:
create a new type called BYTE, equivilent to an unsigned char.
c.a.n.t.c. BYTEP, e.q.t.a. BYTE *.
c.a.n.t.c. PBYTE, e.q.t.a. BTYEP.

The bit gcc doesn't like is the word "far".  According to the faq, the
solution is to add the following line _before_ the typedefs:

#define far
