Like the .avi format, the .wav format is merely a wrapper for several
codecs (audio representations).  So-called "standard waves" are those
that use the codecs "8-bit unsigned PCM" and "16-bit signed PCM".
Heck, an MP3 could be stored in a .wav file with the codec set to
"MPEG 1, audio layer 3".

You need information on the specific flavor of ADPCM your audio clip
uses.  Creative has not to my knowledge released the spec for the
ADPCM codec implemented on SB.
