The FAQ just says it's one possibility; it doesn't say that it will
always work.  Clearly, anything on a PC can be hooked and disabled
(including outport, if you run in V86 mode).

I will add a comment that says it's not guaranteed to work.

This was actually reported to work on Windows.  I guess it doesn't
work in some cases, but works in others.
