One disadvantage of YAMD is that it magnifies the amount of memory your 
program needs at run time by a very large factor (since each allocated 
buffer consumes a page or something like that).  Thus, it is impractical 
for debugging large programs.

But other than that, I find YAMD an invaluable tool for hunting 
memory-related bugs.
