DOS has been buried many times, by many ``knowledgeable'' people,
since about 12 years ago. It is still alive. You can draw your own
conclusions from this.

DJGPP supports all current MS platforms, and it uses services which
are central to Windows itself. I find it hard to believe that MS
could kill all those services just like that. They might prevent you
from booting into plain DOS mode (although that, too, would not be
easy, and I'm certain people who need that will find back doors
quickly enough), but you don't need plain DOS mode to run DJGPP
programs.
