I'm sorry - I should have said.

Using Windows 98 (not second edition), the command line was:
        gxx -W -Wall -o test.exe test.cpp

Using djdev203.zip, and gcc -v reports
Reading specs from d:/djgpp/lib/gcc-lib/djgpp/2.952/specs
gcc version 2.95.2 19991024 (release)
