I have the same bug. The conflisting assembler line is

	movl $L177,$__p_MPNGHS

IIRC such a bug has already been reported to the gpc mailing list. Has
it been corrected in more recent snapshots ? This was from gpc-19991030
(the most recent alpha on agnes, but developper versions are more
recent)
