The CD that comes with that book is known to have some problems.  Also
it may have an old version of DJGPP.  

Consider downloading a recent version from http://www.delorie.com,
follow the link to the djgpp zip-picker.  At least download the
readme.1st file and take a look at the FAQ also.

Hopefully your problem will already be answered in one of those files
- if not you need to be more specific about how you installed DJGPP
and exactly what you do to trigger the error.
