You also have to link your programs with Allegro:

gcc prog.c -o prog.exe -lalleg

If you habe problems with MDLIB:
you have to use
gcc prog.c -o prog.exe -lmdl -lalleg
instead of
gcc prog.c -o prog.exe -lalleg -mdl
