On my Solaris system:
; uname -rs
SunOS 5.6
; perl -e 'require POSIX;'
; perl5 -e 'require POSIX;'
; perl -e 'use POSIX;'
; perl5 -e 'use POSIX;'

No compile errors as you can see.
