    Well, on most cards, if you are using a 8-bit mode and you don't
redirect the output from the child process, it will show up on the screen.
I haven't seen any cards that do it correctly on a 24-bit mode (or 16, or
32), but they may exist.  There are VESA calls which tell whether your
graphix card supports it for any particular mode.
