There is a "normal" version. AFAIK most distros have the LINUX kernel and
various GNU packages (like GIMP, GNOME) etc common to all. So you get the
same feel basically in most packages.

There is no need. If you burned your CD-ROM or have a redhat cd, You can
boot from your CD directly without any need for a floppy :-))). 

If your PC desn't check the CD-rom for bootable cd's during startup you
might want to goto your BIOS by presing the apropriate key combination (in
mine it isi ctrl-alt-esc) that is printed out when the power is turned on,
and enabling this option.
