Normally, we'd ask you to post the full last screen of the error
traceback, but because I've run into this problem before...

You're using AllegTTF for Allegro 3.1x with Allegro 3.9.x, which
radically changed its internal font structures to support Unicode.
There may be a new version of AllegTTF out that works with 3.9.x.
