Are you sure you are refeerring to windows and not to linux/UNIX ;-)

Fast??? I certainly don't think so. Even on my athlon 500 mhz it takes
it's time starting up and it is very slooow. It is bloated too taking a
huge amount of memory...

Reliable??? Even micrsnoft knows better than to run NT/Exchange servers
on their HOTMAIL system (which they own). Hotmail runs solaris and qmail.
Reputedly when M$ bought hotmail they tried to run NT/Exchange and guess
what, It crashed (why am i not surprised?)...

IMHO I surely won't choose a microsnoft product to run life support
software for critically ill patients ;-)

Could you please tell me since the day that you installed win2000 how many
crashes did you get?

I installed RH linux6.0 and I still haven't got a crash for over 4 months.

>and one application crashing doesn't bring down the whole system.

Actually Chris this is quite wrong, AFAIK due to windoze's intrinsically
faulty design one badly behaved app can indeed bring the whole system
crashing to the ground.

Could you please see how many users are complaining of crashes etc on this
list and then you might get an idea of how "reliable" microshaft really
is. fr ex there was this user who was complainig that RHIDE with windoze
gave him a back screen and then the system locked up. This is a very good
example of the whole system crashing down (this maybe not due to RHIDE's
fault, most likely it is windoze..)

I think Chris you should not belive all the hype that microshaft is
delivering. If you try a real OS like linux then only you will understand
what the #@** is the thrash that M$ has been dishing out to us for so
long.

I'm sorry but to find this out would being reinstalling that utter piece
of thrash and I don't want to risk it. Especially seince it is notorious
for ovewriting LILO..

I don't belive i'm reading this ;-)

Linux is good value for money, 0 crashes, 0 bucks!
Windoze, well can you really afford that amount of cash.. No way.

FWIW I allways install windoze from a pirated CD (lots are available in my
part of the world) as I don't believe that I should pay a cent to M$ for
there substandard software. I'm sure that other users should do the same.
IMHO Windoze is just good to run the occasional game you have, It is _not_
good for any serious work.

Best Wishes,
