Were you upgrading an existing installation? If so, that could cause
problems. I did a complete format of the disk and then installed Win2000,
and it works like a dream. It's fast and reliable, and one application
crashing doesn't bring down the whole system. One disadvantage is the
boot-up time, which takes quite a while, but it has the Hibernate mode,
where if you choose hibernate instead of Shut Down, the memory is written to
disk, and then it boots up in 15 seconds when you switch back on. Quite
impressive.

Well the SB Live driver included with Win2000 works fine. It autodetected
all my hardware with no problems at all. (I was using build 2183 and now
2195, maybe you have an early beta?)

IMO, Win2000 is good value for money.
