Path manipulation isn't half as much fun if you don't have proper
tools.  I'd recommend to anyone with multiple compilers on the same to
go and try the little utility 'apath' (package may be called addpath,
I don't really remember), to be found on SimTel. It can not just add
stuff to the path, but also *remove* specific directories from
it. Comes in very handily in a raw DOS setup using multiple compilers
--- for Windows, I'd stick to specialized DOS-boxes per compiler, like
the ones pre-installed by CygWin and the JDK.
