Appended datafiles are broken in the latest Allegro WIP (3.9.30). Try
using dat2s (see the source for setup) if you want to embed your
datafile; this has the additional advantage that if you use UPX to
compress your executable, the datafile will be compressed with UPX's
LZO, which is slightly more efficient than Allegro's implementation of
LZSS.
