Thanks for the help on this installation, however sometimes information
breeds questions and I think a better installation shortly. The reason I
use setver.exe at all is because I have two favorite line editors; ex and
edlin in that order. I had downloaded a file from the djgpp archives with
ex.exe in it I think but that was on my other computer and don't remember
which file has ex.exe in it. So setver.exe allows me to use dos 6.21
version of edlin.exe if memory serves; it may even be dos 6.20. So if I
can find out where ex.exe is, ditching setver.exe will cause no problems.
The other question I have concerns the dos= variable in config.sys.
What's the best setting for that variable for djgpp development? I mostly
use gcc but sometimes use sed for quick jobs and I'll probably start using
perl soon too. That perl is awesome! Those that haven't used it, you can
get an intro to it which is easy by signing up for perl tips from
http://www.tipworld.com David Wall does the perl tips and he also has his
own web site with all past tips and code examples on it too.
