Hi all.

I am a newbie to programming so I am sorry if the following sounds a
little cumbersome, hay you all were newbies at one point to. I am just
starting out with programming and I have learned enough with C to do
some simple programs, things like a very simple address book program and
even then usually one with the guide of tutorials. I was wondering how
much C should I lean before I start with beginner C++ books. As I
understand it, although C++ if a more powerful programming language
there isn't a HUGE amount you can go in it that can't be done with C. At
the moment I know how to do most of the simple stuff, and even how to
open write to and close text files. I have been using some pretty old,
1989, C books to learn from. One of the things I would like to be able
to do is move away from having to use the native DOS environment to
display my programs in. It would be nice if I could create some very
simple GUI's, I mean VERY simple, and not have to rely on the BASIC
BASIC /n and /t to position text on the screen. I hope eventually to be
able to program simple games, like Nibles from Qbasic, in Allegro or
something similar. If you guys could help me answer some of these
questions I would be really grateful! The steps from where I am at now
to being able to program neat games and stuff looks like a long
torturous walk over a lot of glass! Oh well. Also if ANYONE could
recommend some good internet resources for programming please let me
know!:-) Thanks!
