I assume that direct compilation of autoconf-ed Makefiles is impossible in
djgpp (correct me if I'm wrong) and that, in order to actually use
configure, a package like U/WIN or CygWin should be installed on the system,
to make up for the missing components like sh, rm etc.

Are these the only avenues on the matter?
