IMHO SETEDIT is one of the best I have seen - macros, syntax highlighting
etc.. RHIDE I
personally could never get to work right - I probably just did not
understand it well enough.

Very definitely - you get access to all the memory in your machine without
all the messy EMS
acces stuff, (or XMS) it is possible to manage hi color video modes (since
you do not have the niggling 64k barrier) easily and logically, etc. etc.
etc.

Do it! You will very definitely not be disappointed.
