Why? I've seen several postings saying it 'automatically' tacks
.txt onto filenames, but only if you don't pick 'all files(*.*)' as the
file type, and in IMHO, anyone who can't handle doing that is 
already in over their head, and is really making a tragic leap trying 
to learn a programming language on top of not knowing the basics
of the operating system they are running on.

Moral of the story? Get a book on win9x. Read it, understand it.
Then get a book on C/C++ or whatever (the C and C++ FAQs
have some good recommendations) and you're on your way.
