hello.
I am not sure, but I would guess DPMI stands for Dos Protected Mode
Inteface.

DPMI requires 32bit 386 processor with pmode support.
so it probably won't work on a 286, and any program compiled and linked with
DJGPP needs DPMI.

you can trick djgpp for compiling a non-dpmi code, but than you'nt be able
to use a single library in djgpp, including allegro.
