DJGPP v203, gcc 2.95.1, and binutils 2.9.1

No, they both are played out of both speakers.  Everything works right,
except for the duel sfx.  For instance, the sound that is made when you
click for a menu selection is the normal one plus the sound that is
associated w/ using the 'open' (as is opening a door) on a wall without a
door.  All of the soundfxs are like that, the correct one followed by some
other soundfx (the second one is not a random one, though).
